ACCI President Hails Dangote Group as Beacon of Industrial Excellence at 20th Abuja International Trade Fair

The President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, has praised the Dangote Group as a model of entrepreneurial excellence, innovation, and sustainability in Nigeria and across Africa.

Chief Obegolu made the commendation while delivering his welcome address during the Dangote Group Special Day celebration held on the sidelines of the 20th Abuja International Trade Fair in Abuja.

Describing the Dangote Group as “more than a business conglomerate,” the ACCI President noted that it symbolizes “the entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, and commitment to excellence that defines Nigeria’s private sector.”

Highlighting the Fair’s theme, “Sustainability: Consumption, Innovation, and Taxation,” Chief Obegolu applauded the Dangote Group’s leadership in embedding sustainability across its operations in cement, sugar, salt, fertilizer, agriculture, and energy. “Their investments in local value addition, backward integration, and renewable energy align with our vision for a competitive and self-reliant Nigerian economy,” he said.

He further commended the Group for supporting the Chamber’s “Buy Africa, Build Africa (BABA)” initiative, which promotes Made-in-Africa products and continental economic empowerment. “This partnership goes beyond today’s exhibition; it is about building a sustainable future for Nigerian businesses, empowering SMEs, and driving national transformation,” Chief Obegolu emphasized.

Representing the Dangote Group, Alhaji Hashem Ahmed conveyed greetings from the Group President, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and reaffirmed the company’s dedication to sustainability, local content, and inclusive growth. He highlighted the Group’s far-reaching community interventions in education, healthcare, clean energy, and environmental conservation — including solar entrepreneurship training in Kogi State, tree-planting drives, and scholarship schemes across host communities.

“Every bag of cement, every tonne of fertilizer, and every grain of sugar produced by Dangote represents a job for a Nigerian, an opportunity for a small business, and a step toward a more prosperous Nigeria,” Alhaji Ahmed remarked.

He also noted the Group’s alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing the importance of strategic taxation and incentives in promoting industrialization and sustainable national development.

The 1st Deputy President of ACCI, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, who joined the ACCI President and other dignitaries on a tour of the Dangote Pavilion, commended the conglomerate for its significant contributions to Nigeria’s economic advancement through the empowerment of small-scale businesses.

In his remarks, ACCI Director General, Mr. Agabaidu Jideani, described the Dangote Group as “a true partner in Nigeria’s industrial growth,” adding that its collaboration with the Chamber underscores a shared vision for enterprise development and economic sustainability. He emphasized that such partnerships strengthen SMEs, promote local production, and advance inclusive economic growth across the country.

The event concluded with a guided tour of the Dangote Pavilion, where visitors explored the company’s innovative product lines and sustainability-driven initiatives.

Chief Obegolu was accompanied by Mr. Tony Ejinkeonye, Past President; Aisha Ado Abdullahi, Vice President (Legal); and other senior officials of the Chamber.
