Ekiti Community in Diaspora Mobilizes Support for Immigrants Amid Policy Shifts
The Ekiti Community in Diaspora under the leadership of the Director-General for Diaspora, Dr. Adeola Adeleye-Fasubaa mobilises support for Immigrants Amid Policy Shifts.
The Ekiti community in the Diaspora is rallying to support its members in response to the potential impact of new immigration policies under President Donald Trump’s administration.
In a message addressed to Ekiti community-based associations across the country and the Diaspora, the Director-General of Ekiti Diaspora Relations, Adeola Adeleye-Fasubaa, Esq., called for urgent action to assist those who may be affected.
The statement highlighted growing concerns about immigration regulations that could threaten the residency status of many Nigerians, particularly those from Ekiti.
“Many might feel isolated, exposed, or vulnerable at a time like this, not knowing where to go for help,” Fasubaa stated, emphasizing the need for immediate and practical interventions.
To mitigate these challenges, the Ekiti state Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is considering several initiatives, including:
- Identifying legal practitioners willing to offer pro bono or subsidized services.
- Establishing a Relief Fund to provide financial assistance.
- Strengthening community networks to identify and support affected individuals.
Gov. Oyebanji has also called for an urgent meeting of Ekiti elders, leaders, and stakeholders to develop a coordinated response.
“Every Ekiti life matters and must be made to know they are valued, especially in a time like this,” the statement concluded.
The Ekiti Diaspora Relations office is encouraging community members to contribute ideas and support initiatives that ensure no one is left behind during this period of uncertainty. Further details on the upcoming meeting are expected to be communicated soon.
