Ekiti Diaspora Relations Engages Ekiti Traditional Rulers on Diaspora Collaboration

Dr. Adeola Adeleye-Fasubaa , Director General, Ekiti State Diaspora Relations, recently held an interactive session with the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers at the Council Chambers in Ado-Ekiti at their monthly meeting.
The interaction focused on strengthening ties between the Ekiti Diaspora community and their homeland.

The traditional rulers, led by the Chairman of the Council, Oba Ayorinde Ilori -Faboro, Ajiboyede III.
The Kabiyesi Olojudo of Ido-Ekiti; highlighted the importance of fostering a deeper connection between Ekiti people living abroad and their roots. They called on the Diaspora to play an active role in community development by visiting home regularly and contributing to the progress of the state and their various communities.

The monarchs also stressed the need for preserving Ekiti’s rich cultural heritage, urging diaspora parents to teach their children the Yoruba language, the local dialects and traditions to ensure continuity across generations.

In her response, Dr. Adeleye-Fasubaa appreciated the Traditional Rulers for their support of the Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji administration.
She assured them of the Directorate’s commitment to fostering stronger relationships between Ekiti’s in Diaspora and its people. She emphasized the importance of cultural preservation, the active steps being taken to ensure this and reiterated the agency’s plans to encourage investment and development initiatives from the diaspora to benefit the state.

Welfare issues and maintenance of the sanctity of Ekiti traditional institutions were also discussed.

The Kabiyesis’ prayed for her, all sons and daughters of Ekiti in the Diaspora that they would prosper wherever they may be in the world and be able to come back home gloriously.

The interactive session marks another step toward enhancing collaboration between the Ekiti diaspora and traditional institutions, aimed at preserving culture and driving growth in the state by the Ekiti Diaspora Relations
